I am so glad I switched to painting the oval paintings without using a stencil. Surprisingly, it makes my life easier.
Lovely moody desert scene. Do you freehand the oval so well or do you use some method to keep the oval symmetrical?
Amazing work.
Thanks everyone! I am glad you enjoy the painting.
@LPM - I have a 16-inch oval canvas I bought at a hobby store several year ago. I used to use this to make my stencils, but for my last 5 or 6 oval paintings, I just trace the outline directly onto my 18x24 canvas and simply paint inside the line. My hand is steady enough that I can get similar, maybe even better results because I don't have any surprises with paint leaking under the stencil, if that makes sense.

To paint an oval by hand seems even more difficult to me, but what is in the oval is very beautiful, especially the distant mountains with the clouds, but everything is great!
