Oil on 18x24 Canvas. I liked painting this and had a happy time with this scene. Struggling with the filbert brush and double loading it to make rocks. Bob makes it look so easy. Always open to feedback. Thanks for taking a look.

I like the way your stones turned out. Often when painting them one stroke like bob does they can be too rounded and end up looking like car tyres, and they tend to look all the same forgetting that stones are individuals. Yours have flatter tops which I think look better. Double loading is worth persevering with though, I enjoy using it on tree trunks for an instant blend from dark to light. For stones you can just practice on a piece of paper how you hold the brush, how much pressure to use and the shape of the stroke til you get them to look the way you want. If it still doesn't work for you its no big deal, take a break and try another day. Sometimes it's just a confidence thing. I had very little confidence with the knife til I did an all knife painting.

Thank you Helen so much for your feedback. It means a lot. Yes, I agree about the practice part. Something I think about but then want just do a painting. If you’re a golfer it’s kind of like “ why go to the driving range if I can just play!” Since I don’t make rocks that often then I think practice makes perfect sense. You’ve inspired me and thank you for that. .

Well the double loaded filbert may not have turned out the way Bob did it, but it doesn't look bad. Another nice piece Dan.
