Reflections of Calm

AaronR 07 Jan 2020

After watching this episode I wanted to find a photograph of a setting that had the stones in the water and the general composition from the episode that Bob Ross had masterfully created.

I found a photograph of Garibaldi Lake, and used its composition while following along with Bob Ross' technique and style.

I decided to make the time of day Sundown in this painting. So no direct light, because the sun has just set.

This is awesome! Your bottom-right portion with the rocks and path is amazing.

I truly appreciate the kind words. Im enjoying painting from a Photograph alot. Comments like yours inspire me to keep on with oil painting. Thank you very much.

This is really gorgeous. Truly the most serene time of day. There's an incredible sense of distance in your painting. That path goes really far back. Great work!

Thank you so much. The depth was something I really was hoping to get right. It was a challenge to get the colors accurate because I wanted very little snow in this one. Thanks again

I'm blown away by your reflactions!

Hey Felix, thank you for your comment.
Reflections are a tricky one for me. Because I usually add to my painting after I think it’s done, that means I’m going back and adding reflections to an area I didn’t plan for.
BTW. Thanks for making this Site where we can all post our Art and have a very positive community behind us.
