Portrait of Winter

infrasteve 23 Feb 2019

This is the first thing I've painted since grade school, so I'll take it.

I watched a bunch of episodes before trying this and took a lot of notes on his technique. As expected, putting it into practice was a lot more challenging. Getting feel for the paint and the brushes is going to take some work.

I had a very hard time with the knife. Loading paint, outlining mountains, overlaying snow on the mountains, even mixing were way trickier than I thought they'd be. The bushes were a nightmare, too. I think I needed more paint, and probably a little bit thinner.

Looking forward to trying more.

Keep it up.
One of the things that is tricky to develop, is the "feel"...Holding the brush, the knife...etc.
