Campfire

Any1CanDoIt 17 Apr 2020

My fifth painting.
This is where I found out you need a lot of base color to make this effect work, I just didn't have enough crimson underneath and I've ended up with with the orange yellow glow. I will give this another go at some point.
Not very happy with the fire I tried to start small but I didn't stir the yellow on the palette. I don't know if it's a common thing for Windsor and Newton yellows to have green separation in the mix, because of this it looked dirty and trying to cover up it just got bigger I should have just scrapped of and started the fire again.
I really do like the cowboy I think I got his arm just right.
Not so keen on the floating tree's so added a tree on the left to fill in the painting and give it more depth.

Voy Kay Conqueror of Challenges

This is a very nice yet tough painting to take on Any1. I use cad yellow from Winsor & Newton as well and it can happen that some of the oil residu makes the yellow a bit dirty (this can happen since yellow has few pigment). Simply whipe the top of the tube clean and get a fresh dot of paint!
