Golden Knoll

dracula 02 May 2020

Personally, I prefer not to have evidence of people as a focal point in my landscapes so I've been avoiding painting a cabin for over a year! However, I think part of the value in painting Bob Ross landscapes, for me, is in painting things I may not have thought to do myself. So, I painted a cabin. I was a little underwhelmed with the monochromatic nature of the background as I was going through the background (the version in the book is more subdued than the one from the television program), but in the end I it was a fun and rewarding, and a little bit different.

Dracula, congratulations with the cabin then! I think it adds feel of calmness to this magnificent view. I mean presence of humans in this landscape. Imagine someone walks to the end of the path and stands on this hill and sees this incredible beauty of wide space in front. I would certainly bring a chair with me and took a proper time to enjoy sunset there. Beautiful work!

I really like the subtle path and the gentle highlights on the grass. Great cabin too!

I thought the cabins was your only weakness,
But you have made a lot of progress in drawing the cabin. Challenge your cabin or barn. If you want to be a CRI however
ability of quicknessis much more important for CRI. Well done!

Thanks @Jin7, yes the last time before this that I tried a cabin I barely had control over the materials in this technique, so it was nice to try again. I believe I have another cabin coming up this weekend, so I'll just keep practicing and hopefully improve in terms of speed and technique. I appreciate your feedback!

This is unbelievable. I've just tried this one but it doesn't even get close. Wonderful job.

Wow. The lighting is amazing in your painting. All the highlights and cast shadows are super realistic.
