Northern Lights

lightsnow 15 Apr 2019

This was my seventh attempt at painting. I used Bob Ross's "Northern Lights" painting as a model, but I added liquid white to my fan brush and flicked it against the palette knife in order to make stars in the sky.

18x24 on a cheap canvas purchased at the dollar store (better than the Walmart brands that are, ironically, 3x the price)

The stars are a nice touch! It almost gives the illusion that snow is falling as well!

Splattering white paint on top of the finished painting in order to create the illusion of snow would be the ultimate 'bravery test' !
