Through the Window

lightsnow 15 Apr 2019

This was my eighth painting. I used masking tape to create the illusion that one is looking out a window at a snowy winter landscape. I used Bob Ross's "Through the Window" as an inspiration, but changed the outline of the window. 16x20 on a high quality canvas

That looks great! I love the trees!

Your tree limbs are always so pretty. Can you give me advice on where to place limbs and twigs and how to get mine to look more like yours?

That's really nice of you to say. Honestly, I don't think much of my tree limbs! I just look out the window at the trees and try and emulate what I see. With winter having come and gone, I took numerous photos of bare trees so I could really see how the limbs are shaped. I just stare at trees a lot. Bob Ross said to let your brush wiggle and that it was okay to have a 'nervous tick' in your hand when painting trees. I try to do what he was saying!

I love the addition of your twigs!
