Windy Waves

dracula 06 Feb 2021

I probably should have re-watched this episode before attempting it because it features some things that I'm not as familiar with, not least of which is the use of "Liquid Gray" (a 50/50) mix of Liquid White & Liquid Black) for the base coat. It does seem to impact the mood of the painting overall, which I think is cool.

Love this, great atmosphere, I half expect the black pearl to rock up in a minute! Excellent colours in those trees, what colours do you use to get that dark green?

Love the realism. Great movement, I can almost feel the wind blowing. You did a great job with the colors as well, it really gives a stormy vibe.

The palm trees look like they are blowing in the wind! Great job!

I can feel the storm coming...

Thank you everyone! You are all so nice! I am pleased with the gloomy, stormy quality of this painting, now that I have had a few days away from it.

@Nivek1971 - The green color in the palm trees was the very last thing I did on this painting so I just mixed whatever Phthalo Green I had left with the darkest mixture I had on the palette...probably from the rocks. Usually, by the end of a painting I have run out of space and some of the colors, so I tend to just mix stuff together at that point, until I get close to what I want.
