Portrait of Winter

Mgiese84 03 May 2021

This was a combination of 'Portrait of Winter' and 'Winter Solitude.' I had more space at the bottom by the time I got to that part of the painting so I needed something to keep it interesting. I didn't want just all bushes and such.

Very nicely done. You've added more interest to the painting and I prefer it to the original. Your evergreens are lovely.

Thanks!

I really like this combination. Lots going on. Beautiful scenery.

Awesome detailing in the foreground! Mountain looks fantastic!

You did a great job. The extra work on the foreground has paid off. I recently discovered that sneaky trick of using the dip in the middle to create a visual expanse of water so that your imagination does the rest off canvas and I love it. You've pushed everything further back with your little cabin, it has added scale to the scene. A lot of landscapes are just trees mountains water, and they don't worry about scale. Nothing creates scale better than a structure. I'm not much of a painter, I'm a miniature model maker so scale is important to me, scale changes everything.
