Fishermen At Sunset (Acrylic)

Docluv2run 25 Mar 2024

First time working with acylics. Amazing how easily the brush strokes show up and are hard to get rid of once they dry. Did this up at our mountain cabin so it would dry and not have to worry about transporting it home. Found out you have to mix with water to keep from drying out and to get more "distance" out of the paint. Makes me now realize that I prefer oils (easier to cover up happy accidents) although this was a good test and first try with acrylics. On and 11" x 14" canvas.

Very nice Doc! The brush strokes just show that it’s a painting and not a photograph. Love your scene and the colors are outstanding!

I can relate! acrylics felt like using a sharpie compared to oils, for me. The paint goes on so much easier. Less mud mixing, but blending was a pain!
You did super well with this, I would not have guessed it was your first time with acrylics (actually to me this looked like oils until I read your description). That sky is gorgeous.

Super scene . I Like this fishing scenes very much . Super work for a first try ,Doc . πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Great painting for first acrylics Doc. I can relate to all you experienced. Well done, cheers

Looks really great! Yes acrylics are a lot different than oils but you get used to it!

I don’t like acrylic but you done great with them, great job

Great work John! The brush strokes looked intentional. It creates great rippling effect in the water!

Thanks everyone! Happy to know everyone pretty much agrees acrylics are a different animal than oils! I like the quick drying as far as being finished and able to transport the painting but I don't like the quick drying while I am painting. Like oils, this is going to take some time getting used to. BUT at least it offers an option! Thanks again for the encouragement!

Hey Doc, I love the transparent sky.

Real great work.

Nice job Doc.
