Better or worse?
I shaded more (and added background obviously).

Thanka Felix. What an interesting view that I didn't try to do. Yet when i think about it darker shading darker emotions and lighter shading is lighter emotions. Something i will take into consideration the next time I sketch.

Interesting how a simple background like this can change the feeling of the painting!
For me this versions feels much more like the parent is protecting the children, because of how they seem to be pushed into the corner of the room.
The other version seems like a loving embrace.
Great work with keeping the same perspective on the walls as with the family.
