After I painted Paul Ranson's silhouette tutorial (my version is here- https://www.twoinchbrush.com/originals/Regan/serengeti ), a co-worker asked me to do a version with zebras in it for her son.

12"x24" Black canvas. Black Gesso, Light Grey Gesso, Liquid Clear, Titanium White, Indian Yellow, Dark Sienna, Bright Red, Alizarin Crimson, Phthalo Blue, Payne's Grey and Midnight Black.

Impressed by the detail of the silhouettes in Dirk1968's "Daybreak", I had bought a Cricut Joy cutting machine and found some zebra images to cut out in adhesive vinyl. I never could have put in zebras this detailed trying to cut out contact masks by hand. I increased the number of giraffes as well. I painted over the uncovered spaces in the zebras with light grey gesso, thinking that white would be too bright for the painting's dusk setting. After I painted the rest of the picture and removed the vinyl, I found that even the light grey was too bright. So I did a bit of a wash with linseed oil and Payne's Grey to subdue them a little.

Love the zebras! Well done!

Hey Regan, the Cricut was definitely worth it. Great work👍🏼🇩🇪Greetings from Germany

Yeah, it was worth it. I probably won't use it much, but when I do it will save me a lot of painstaking work.

Awesome!
