Original Creation

December Sea

Sunnylady 01 Jan 2021

Painted on reused canvas. Saying goodbye to another seascape.

Painted following instructions from D.Roza, but at some point I went on my own as my color scheme got slightly different.

Oil on canvas, 35 by 50 cm.

Colors:
Titanium white
Cad yellow
Cad orange
Alizarin crimson permanent
Phtalo blue
Phtalo green
Indigo = Prussian blue + black color
Burnt umber
Special brown red. With pigment PR101. Winsor newton Burnt sienna works well as it is made of this pigment.

Medium is triple solvent: dammar varnish, linseed oil and pinen.

I can hear the sea in this painting! Awesome.

Love love love this, that sky and the eye of the wave, beautiful 😍

Great painting!

Thank you folks! I am so happy you like it! Does it produce feel of cold water?

Stunning. Simple as that.

I had to sink this in for a while since that wave is by far one of the best I've seen here, colourwise and execution. The whole ambience is so clever, so smooth, so peacekeeping even with a crashing wave.

To be honest .... I almost dreamed you would put another yacht on this!
A+++ painting Sunnylady, you started the New year with a bang!!

This is really gorgeous Sunny, love the colours.

Beautiful!

@cyrlleybap thank you!

@Voy thank you very much! I am so glad it worked out. I used few cheaper oil paints and I noticed that pigment load is a bit poor. So consumption was higher. Now I need to calculate $ versus $ to compare the difference in quality.

I think main thing about this sea is that I liked it and felt it, so painting was a challenge but I think because of my mood it turned calmer than it was supposed to be.

I am actually surprised to get a thought that sea paintings make me calm. Maybe this reminds me about being in the sea and feel sleepy. :)

@TheLandscapePainter, @Pietro1963,@Forestvuegallery, @lightsnow- thank you very much folks! I am happy you visited this cold sea shore with me!

Your maritime paintings are really good, one of my favorite subjects

Thank you Felix! I love see. When I am in see however it makes me seasick. In the Galveston the sea is always rough and windy. It is always so many mixed emotions about the sea. I plan very dark stormy sea very soon. I just need to get new canvas.

Another wow from me. You have wonderful water and waves...a little sad about the previous one gone...it was mesmerizing to me.

Thank you LJM, even I liked the idea of the previous one, I could not resolve it to my satisfaction. I tried fixing colors and everything. But composition was having issues and I let it go. I saw only one similar topic from old masters and topic needs surely more research.

I love the beach any time of year. Beautifully done as usual.

Froggie, thank you so very much!

I love the wave crash and the far away clouds. Look so soft and subtle. Very beautiful.

@JojoSunshine - thanks for your kind words! I am glad to see that impression of this painting is soft and subtle. I hope it feels cold at least.
I was aiming for cold stormy sea, I see it is not the case. But I do not mind it at all. :)
