You really excel at creating atmosphere in your paintings. This is fabulous!

Thank you Very much! I picked this to exactly to improve my skill with atmosphere and learn how to create light in the distance.

This is beautiful and the distance is true to life. The sky and water have such a gentle peacefulness. It’s a beauty of a dream!

Thanks ForestVueGallery! Your words are so like poetry.

Wow Are you sure that's not a photograph, this is stunning work πŸ˜ƒ

Perfect control over value. The illusion of distance is wonderfully effective. Excellent work!

great soft touch! I'm inspired!

@Nivek, @dracula, @Mashoo. Thank you folks! I like how it turned out. There was a moment when I thought the placement of a boat in the middle ruined composition. But it turned just couple of little corrections with value in the fireground and extension of the first rock fixed the issue to bring attention right to the center. I hope it created calm and stability effect with that ship in the center.

magnificent, better than a photo, will read article and hope to learn something new...

I usually share link. But this time I forgot.
Thus sharing it now. https://youtu.be/zHCm_uDaXAI

Some countries will have to use VPN due to countries regulations dictated to YouTube.

sure wish i understood Russian that being said a picture is worth a million words

At least you can see the process there. As Idea you can go via 2 hours of videos and make screenshots and put them in the Word document. You can print it in color and use it as guide. You can refer to the video when you get stuck.

I learnt the trick with video, i watch it carefully for 5 min and then reproduce what i saw on the canvas. This is very helpful for the first 4-5 times and then you somewhat get hand on the similar things and gets easier.

Colors in all those videos are always the same:
Colors:
Titanium white
Cad yellow
Cad orange
Alizarin crimson PERMANENT
Phtalo blue
Phtalo green
Indigo = Prussian blue + black color
Burnt umber
Special brown red. With pigment PR101. Winsor newton Burnt sienna works well as it is made of this pigment.

Medium that he uses can be replaced by Stand linseed oil and odorless paint thinner (60/40)
Consistency of paint is a bit thicker than drinking yogurt. ( or like shampoo)

He usually does 10 min breaks to answer the questions from other painters who watch him so in fact painting process is somewhat 40 min less than the video length. There are many beginners every time who never hold a brush, but I am sure that for people with some experience repeating the process from the video will be successful and I am sure if you try you will succeed even it is in foreign language.

There are couple of the simpler videos there where he paints with 3 ladies following him let me share the links:

https://youtu.be/Ugel4NtG5Po

the last one composition is extremely simple and you can try technique and see if that works for you.

May be you can find Russian speaking friend that he/she would translate to you and you could paint together in front of big TV screen?

Top creation from you, admiral Sunnylady!
You captrued the POV and shape of that both up to perfection, I am so happy for you!
The lighting from the racks is simply breathtaking as is the small rock field in the front.
Another A+++ painting from you!!

Thank you very much Voy for your wonderful and kind words! I want to check already how it looks but because i was a very messy painter this time it needs to wait a week to let it become touch-dry.

The soft fading of the background is a real winner here. The gradual change in the background rocks from light to dark really gives great depth. I really love this one!!!

@Lzicchinella thank you very much! I like the depth achieved too, but more than that i like the fogginess of the air. Most difficult was to make sky here and produce perfect gradient that would start on the right of the horizon and darken to the left top corner. I did not achieve that, but got close enough. I also did not get enough reds/pinks near the horizon line to emphasize morning time. But that is okay. Light color paintings are more difficult for me to handle than darks. But I will learn.

This is beautiful. The first thought I had was that you must have put a considerable amount of effort into this one, and it shows! I spent some time on the Amalfi coast 2 years ago. This scene reminds me of that place.

Thanks a lot lightsnow! The very original was a photo and easily could be from Amalfi. I have never checked. It is awesome you told me so, this is beautiful place based on my google search.

Recently it looks like on average it is 5 hours per painting, I think it is reasonable for this size. I get tired after 5-6 hours and it does not allow me to go in with attempt to detail and ruin it. But it gives me a good feel and satisfaction of finishing something nice. I am currently investigating more impressionistic approach and play even more with illusion of details. But again one half of me wants thick paint and another half likes blending way too much.

Sorry,I missed this one.Beautifully done.Such a serene scene.

@Pietro - no issues. I like the feel of morning glow and mist here that bring this calmness. Thanks a lot for checking out this one.

This is amazing. Very well done and really does give me an impression of great distance to the horizon, very soft and disappears to almost nothing. Great article and tip for using my phone to assess my values and how they represent distance, thanks!

@ rah - thank you for visiting both the painting and the article! I am happy you found it helpful.

@Tom, yes all this is brush. Synthetic mostly. Naturals bristles for blending only.
