Original Creation

Inspiration after Aivazovsky. Night in Napoli.

Sunnylady 30 Apr 2022

This is inspiration after Ivan Aivazovsky “Night in Napoli”. Followed tutorial of D. Roza. Could not paint people, so erased them. It looks like I need to put a boat at least in the shore to create interest.

Size 16*20 inches. Oil on canvas.

Pietro1963 Master of Monsters

great scene .love the shoreline

Awesome wave and ship!

Super realistic! Anazing!

Thank you all! I added original. It is quite interesting to see it and be amazed how much more interest in great master painting.

How wonderful this.

Thank you Hado!

This painting looks fantastic, especially with the rigging on the ship, showing the light through the wave and the reflections of the moonlight.

Thank you Dave! Fun thing that I looked at reference really close only for the ship. I do not understand how it was built but I used a lot of relative measurements to make proportions right.
Rigging was the hardest and to figure horizontal lines for sails.
I also discovered how good kolinsky brush is for touch ups for light on dried painting. I have got that brush from my mom who got it for make up. :)

I love this one, the use of light and selection of colors, as well as the details of the ship! I looked at a few of his online after you posted this. Really enjoy looking at the old masters as well. Great job!

Thank you Happyisland! Aivazovsky is totally incredible. His big works are really monumental in size, If you ever get to see it in Saint Petersburg or Feodosia it will be the deal of the entire life.

your sea paintings are amazing and so atmospheric... great job sunny lady

I’m sorry I missed this, it is so beautiful and emits such peace. I’ve been too busy lately with gardening to keep up.

No worries. Thank you so much for visiting. I am trying to grow bell peppers. First time in my life.

I always appreciate your beautiful seascapes. Good luck with the peppers. I have some miniature pepper plants sprouted that may be ready by September!
