Original Creation

Light on the water. Version 3.

Sunnylady 04 Jul 2021

I rarely do repeats of the same scene. This one scene I adore and every time it has slightly different mood. I started 2 months ago and with a lot going on I had a break, but finally I finished it. Started with my favorite online instructor Dmitry Roza, but finished on my own.

Magnificent Sunnylady!
The way you gave life to those waves and clouds, you are truly the 'mistress of light' at sea!

My favourite? The rolling wave!!!

Thank you Folks! Appreciate your kind words!

Beautiful.....One word says all.

@tel - thank you very much!
@Pietro - very glad to hear you like the wave. It was some challenge as I could not figure in my own how to roll it if perspective is in this setting.
@Voy - thank you my dear friend, clouds were my second challenge, it is interesting but it was some sort of a battle with myself. As soon I brought up the water to my liking - sky sank and got lost. Then I fixed sky and water got out of the order. It was few iterations before I figured out the group of colors that works best in sky and in the water.

@mgiese - thanks for your kind feedback!

Love the break of the wave and the highlights. This is excellent.

@Jwalker - thank you! After looking at the break of the wave on photo I think I need to reassess and see if in reality I can see subtle transparency I put. Photo seemed to eat that up. Plus I was painting at artificial light things may have gotten distorted at day light.

@ Guna - today I added some transparency in the water. Hope it will not ruin this light condition.
Thank you for your kind words!

Really beautiful, Sunnylady! I love everything about it but the reflections are particularly well executed. It has such movement and vibrancy.

@Barbara - thank you very much! Very happy you love it!

This is a beautiful scene, so much peace in it.

@Forestvue - thank you very much! I did not think about the mood. I find it very interesting that for my seas the mood is created via my internal flow. I tried to create storm, but it also has vibes of calmness. Do you think it might be because at the sea I generally feel sleepy?

That’s a good question. After your reply I thought about it and believe it brought up the peaceful feeling I generally have at the sea. It’s the soft pink and peach color in the sky reflected on the water that I find so calming. It’s a beauty!

Thank you very much! I am glad that you answered! This is valuable insight about color and calmness!

This is beautiful Sunnylady!. The mood is so calm...there might be a storm out there but I've got some time before I need to seek shelter. The gull is perfect. If I were to offer feedback it would be to lighten the first wave under the curl in line with the sunset. Thanks for sharing this.

Everyone has said it before me, Sunnylady and I whole heartedly agree. Stunning!

@ Stick_people - thank you for your feedback. After some time looking at it here and in reality I made the wave a bit lighter to create some sort of transparency but left it subtle. I did not post updated version as camera would not catch it. Thank you for constructive feedback! Glad you enjoyed the painting and thank you for describing the mood that you see in it!

@Barbara - thank you very much!

Your welcome. Ocean scenes are so challenging for me...I could spend hours just trying to make a wave look "right". Your eye easily picks up anything that doesn't make sense. You captured it so well here!

Absolutely gorgeous 😍!

Thank you Sharon!
