Wild West Scene - Nil Rocha

Tom0779 31 Jul 2023

Once in a while I got to post one of my watercolor and ink paintings (so called line and wash technique).
This has been painted after a tutorial by Nil Rocha (check his YouTube channel if you want to learn that technique). In Autumn I plan to create totally new watercolor paintings.
The whole technique is very much on the drawing side which I really like.
I always use cotton paper. Size is A5.

Great job Tom.

I love this Tom! So different… it’s very refreshing! Watercolor is def something I’d love to try. I am aware of its level of difficulty. The outcome is very different than any other mediums. Hence its beauty!

You do these watercolours really well Tom, great painting, cheers

Nancy, I wouldn't say it's difficult, just different. The ability to let go, and, letting the paint do it's thing are the key.

Thank you Tomi!

Thanks a lot Nancy. Actually I would say watercolors need much more brainwork than oils. Any oil painter says watercolors are more difficult but as Tomi said they are just different.
But there is a saying: if you can paint in watercolors you can paint in any other medium too. And I would confirm this widely.
But to paint good watercolor pictures you need good paper. And you need to live with little uncontrollable things. Much more than in other media.

Many thanks Dave!

Yes Tomi I agree with that.

It is so good!
