Winter Day - Bill Alexander

Tom0779 11 Mar 2024

My painting from last weekend. A very fast and loose piece. Bill is definitely right about saying: the longer you paint the more loose you get.
This is something I definitely observe recently. I finish my paintings very fast and I stop to overthink and overwork them.
It is something I always struggled with, i.e. being more loose and still the result is pleasing me. Maybe it’s a turning point in my painting style, I hope so.
Next step is to paint buildings more loose. I hope this works out too.
This is oils on canvas panel 16 x 20 inches (40 x 50cm)

Great work love the colors. Did you use Alexandra paint?

Wonderful scene and well painted, as usual! Did you use Rose Madder or an alernative color?

Thank you for all your comments. I am glad you like the picture.
To answer the questions:
@CP23: no I don’t have any Alexander Art paints. The aren’t available in Europe. I mainly use Lukas1862 or Winsor & Newton paints.
@Jos: no I don’t have Rose Madder. I have one tube of Permanent Rose which I used an which might last my whole life.
