Original Creation

Canadian Sunset (Bill Alexander)

This is such a striking painting - I love the black canvases. This is a a smaller 11x14 size. One thing I did notice is that after applying my Indian yellow, some of the black gesso seemed to come through and it got a very slight green tint. I did gesso my own canvas and probably should have let it dry overnight (?)

This one is actually pretty easy to do if you are looking to try it! It would be pretty to see in blue as winter πŸ€”

Thanks Pietro! Yes 😎

Really gorgeous! Love the colors and the reflections are awesome!

Very nice Pam, I already tried it but was not happy with my result, this one is great especially the sky oh and it is normal that yellow on dried black gesso can also result in a bit green.

Super scene Pam!

Fantastic sky , top Level πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜Ž

Your loose brushstrokes give this one something special. This is something I can not do, seems I always think too much during painting.
As Jos said, even the yellow is transparent it will turn a bit green on the black canvas. Don’t worry it is still a great work, done out of an extremely simple tutorial!

WOW Pam! You did an amazing job with this one! Love your sky and its reflection. I agree with Tom on you loose brush strokes... they make your painting next level.

Thank you Tom and Nancy. I believe it was Steve that I heard say "the key to making great clouds is to paint them like you don't care". It is so true! When I try too hard they are not as good. But on this one I just did them fast without overthinking.

A truly lovely painting Pam, well done. Cheers
