Original Creation

Riverbend Sunset

flippergirlpaints 25 Aug 2021

This is a popular new one with such beautiful bright colors, so I decided to give it a go. I was not sure what to expect from Nic Hankins, but he did not disappoint! I like that his tutorials are 1 hour instead of 30 minutes (even though mine took more like 2 1/2 hours). If you are new to the wet on wet style, he does a lot more explaining of things and goes a little more slowly so he is easy to follow along with.

Great job, really like the darkness in your foreground bushes and trees

Thank you Midnite Painter! I think I have finally mastered those bushes I had been struggling with.

Very pretty

looks awesome! Your rocks "rock!" sorry, I'll see myself out!

Beautiful colors, especially the red water, and great stones!

Thank you all so much! As a note on the rocks, I had never tried using the oval brush to make larger ones like Nic did and I was pleased at how they turned out. I like that technique.

Well done! Very pleasing to the eye...this would have been easy to become symmetrical but you did great with keeping it random. A couple of suggestions...the water reflection does not match the sky, and the intermediate grass, trees, and rocks could be softened to help with depth.

Amaising, i saw that at youtube. I love everything you did especialy the rocks how did you make them so real? It doesnt look the same way that Nic did.

Thx Roy and Gamliel! Gamliel, to answer your question, I did use the same technique as Nic. I will say that I always have to go back and touch up either the darker base color or the highlight color on some when I do rocks to get the result I want. But careful not to mess with them too much or they turn to mud!
