Fading sun in Laos

mbbrickner 14 Sep 2021

Oil on paper | 9”x12” | I’ve been neglecting the oil paints for watercolor, but have been feeling a pull to get back to it. This is a study of a photo of a sunset in Laos. My goal was to let the sky be the focal point rather than the mountains.

Nice use of colour , the impasto application of paint really adds interest to the work...all palette knife?

Thanks! I actually put an acrylic burnt sienna ground on with a brush, but all of the impasto work was done with a knife.
