Goethean Hall And Gallows Hill

mbbrickner 27 Dec 2021

Acrylic on canvas | 8”x10” | I work in office building downtown in the city in which I live. During my lunch breaks, I walk through the campus of the local university. I am always struck by the beauty of the architecture and old trees in contrast to what used to be the executioner’s hill (left background). I used Winsor & Newton’s Galeria acrylics for this painting.

Such a lovely sunlit and shadow parts distinction! Great colors on the building! It seems however that tree top/left brunches need to be sunlit too.

Thanks so much! Yea, that’s a really good point. I do need to add some highlights to the top left branches.
