Valley Under the Stars

This is my first attempt at using an “under painting” with oil pastels. Although not archival quality, I mixed a violet pastel with mineral oil and used a paint knife to very lightly coat the paper and scrape it into all of the crevices, dragging of the excess. I find that the under painting really helped the colors pop and definitely made blending by finger much easier (because of the extra mineral oil).
