This is a recent watercolor work of mine on 9x12 cold pressed watercolor paper. I've only recently begun painting in this medium--the medium I swore I would never try. I'm having a lot of fun with them, and would encourage those in our community here to try them. Clean up is a lot easier!
So glad you decided to submit this to the event. A lovely watercolor and especially impressive since you say you are new to watercolors. After trying a few I know it is not an easy medium - it’s difficult to get detail without making it look overworked. You managed to balance this perfectly!
@Lilikins ... Thank you! I'm having fun with them. Berthe Morisot, the late impressionist painter, gave me the inspiration to step out and try the medium.

I'm glad you decided to pursue watercolor because this painting is beautiful. The subtle, nearly washed out background trees are my favorite, ever so fading off into the distance. I can see water color being an excellent medium to create such an illusion, but I too have told myself I would never try it. Maybe in the future. This gives me a bit of hope!
