Tropical Seascape

HLarson3 02 Feb 2022

I needed to do a brighter one after many black canvas paintings and this definitely fit the bill! I haven't done a seascape for quite some time and was really drawn to this.

The sky was pretty simple and fun. I’m still learning how to get a sense for painting the moving water and foam, especially in between the waves. My favorite part was painting the palm trees! Really fun. The leaves were a bit tricky, but the second one came out better. Overall a nice simple little seascape for anyone that hasn’t done one yet. Enjoy. Oils on 18x24 canvas.

A very nice job. And definitely will brighten up a dull room.

I love the eye of the wave and the palms!

Thank you Matt and Voy!

Great bark on the palm trees, I still can't get mine to break like that 👍

Great wave shape and highlights!

Thank you both! I’ve been doing a lot of mountain practice around here which has helped a bit with the knife work. Though I still had some shaky moments when I painted today! Always a challenge.

I still don’t feel like a I have a “vision” for wave shaping and highlights, so thank you! I’ll keep going!
