I’ve wanted to paint this one for a good long while and today was the day! First time painting solo ever. Second black canvas, first one was a wreck, this was better but still a learning experience for sure.
Loved: Painting the sky! The way the foreground came together at the end, and how the cabin turned out. This is the first time ever I actually like my bushes and paths!
Struggles: Trees! Oh my…I can’t seem to get that razor edge on my 2” brush and it shows.
Blooper: My water didn’t reflect the sky colors which is so essential to this painting! I had my water starting in the wrong spot, and to boot most of the bottom third was covered in blue, not the gold/crimson/blue as the top was. This mistake makes me the most frustrated, but I still enjoyed it and would love to paint it again. All in all easier than I thought.
