Wilderness Day

Sunnylady 13 Jun 2022

Here is one more charcoal drawing. Newly learned methods were applied(brush, erasers). I also used charcoal pencils, charcoal made from a burnt plant and pressed charcoal sticks. I paid more attention to value to create similar mood like in Bob Ross, I think I was not successful in it. I worked to control rest of the values as at some point I just went rogue. It was like “hm… it looks like it needs a road, hm… it turned into pretty river; hm it looks I want a forest far away- hm, interesting turn into far away town.” Size is A3 allows details and need to say pencils give more control too, but expressiveness goes away.

Aah, and one more thing - all wilderness now is behind viewer back.

I particularly like the tree on the right. I think you did an outstanding job on that guy. Very impressed with the detailing of the bark and the leaves. I also have a tendency to go “hm…” and just adding and adding and adding so I completely understand haha

You have produced a fine landscape with a variety of instruments in your new medium. Great experimentation and learning. well done.

Lovely! Excellent value control.
