Winter Evergreens

joha59 09 Jan 2023

The contrast of the warm colors in the sky and the cold colors in the remaining parts of this painting I liked the most. I used a bit of Indian Yellow in the mountains and the distant trees/hills. On canvaspanel 40 x 30 cm.

Hey Jos looks cool , like the yellow against the blue .. Very nice 😎

I echo Dirk! Great job on not getting a green sky. Love your yellow-ish mist!

nice golden glow on the mountains!

Now I am almost ashamed of my version haha! Wonderfully done!

Many thanks Dirk, Nancy, there was no risk for a green sky because it was a mixture of yellow ocre and red, with more red on the outside, Pam and Marc, no no, yours was great and for me an inspiration to paint this one!

I like how the shadows of the mountain reflect where the sun is. Took me a second to notice, but when I did, it really caught my eye

Brian. I changed the mountaintop on the right a bit, Bob painted the shadow side right under the sun, I moved this shadow to the other side, if that is what you mean?!

Yes, I think what you did makes total sense.

Nice. This is the one I'm doing at my class later this month

Thanks Matt. I think it is a great choice, not too difficult but paiinting with great possible effect. If I do this one again, I try to put some color of the sky in the water on the foreground. Looking forward for the results of your group!
