Pastel Seascape

Tom0779 17 Jan 2023

Normally I am not painting a lot of seascapes but there is a story behind that one. On Bobs 80th birthday in October 2022 there was a Bob Ross marathon on a German TV station. I watched several episodes with my son (11).
There has also been this episode shown and so he asked me if I could paint this for him and hang it up in his room. Of course I did and this is the result. I already framed it and corrected the oval shape, see second picture.
My opinion about this episode:
If you want to paint realistic this episode might not be the right for you. Reason is, with this colors in the sky the water wouldn't show that blue. Normally the sky colors reflect into the water.
But as Bill Alexander said in some of his shows: "This is not a photo, it is a painting."
Else it is a funny episode which is rather fast to go through compared with others. And it gives a nice color effect on the wall.
I used a canvas panel 16 x 12 in. (40 x 30 cm). I always use this small size for ovals as I have a perfect oval template (a plastic bucket, LOL) for this size.
My son is quite happy with this picutre.
