Evening's Glow

Tom0779 27 Mar 2023

One of my favorite episodes. I like to put in some life into my cabin. So I made the chimney smoking and put in some light into the windows as well as a door (no black hole as Bob normally does).
Still I have no time to paint something new :( :(

Hey Tom , I like the „living“Cabin . The smoke is a nice Detail as well .It Looks so much better than the „ dead“ ones. Great Job , greetings from Germany 😎🇩🇪👍🏼

Many thanks Dirk. I think too sometimes a bit of life would have been nice in Bobs cabins, but maybe due to the time restrictions of the show Bob never tried. Greetings from Austria :)

Really a great painting! Love the "living: cabin also .can just imagine someone nestled inside! Awesome

I live this episode too Tom. This one has been on my list-to-paint for quite sometime.

I love the life I. The cabin. I think Bob didn’t have the time to do anything with it due to his short time to paint. I love the smoke. I always wondered how to make some that would look real. Love the shadow of the home and the window light protection on the ground. Super painting Tom!

Thanks a lot Sandy. I always imagine how people could live in that cabins:)

Thank you Nancy. The smoke was done with white and a tiny touch of black, so you get a light gray. Then I used (as far as I can remember) the corner of a fan brush and swirled it a bit up, getting wider at the top and less color there. You can also blend the top with any goat hair brush so it looks disappearing.
There might be other ways too, this is the method I developed for this scene here. Never did smoke before.

I love the way you made it!!! I took a screenshot to your message. I’ll def give it a shot at some point. Thx Tom! 😀

You are welcome Nancy.

Very nice, Tom! I too am a fan of your cozy cabin. Love the sky and the misty hills in the background. I think you may have inspired me to try this one next!

Wonderful job Tom! Nice details - the cabin really draws the eye along with the rickety fence.

Another quality piece Tom, love it all but the cabin is a real centrepiece, the shadow makes it so 🖖

Very good

Thanks Karna, good luck with this one!

Thanks a lot Roy, glad you like it.

Thanks a lot Niv. Adding shadows can improve a painting a lot. And it is easy most of the time.

Thanks for your support Coldethel.

Just beautiful Tom. I may have to start calling you MR. SUNSET :)

Many thanks Tony, I like sunset or moonlight paintings:)
