Shadow Pond

Ninoum 06 Feb 2023

Just looooooooove those forest scenes! So peaceful and relaxing. It reminds me of “Hidden Creek” (S13E6) that I painted January 6th of this year. . They are def from the same forest. 😁

Great bark on your tree. And fantastic branches too.

Thank you so much Nick! ☺️

Ahhhhhh👀guten Morgen Beauty , another fantastic creation ! Super light in the background . This Scene makes a feeling like easy going , dont talk to me and let me just relax . „Spitzenklasse 🇩🇪“

Very nice work Nancy!

Good morning my friend! Yep… it’s totally the mood of this painting!

Thank you very much Tom! 😀

Super trees and I like your version better than Bob’s! Beautiful work!

Awesome version of this painting.
Nice dark section on the right where the dense trees are.

so much to enjoy here, I think my favorites are the branches and sticks and how they look like bolts of lightning (the best branches do, imo) and the soft glow of the light source. The bark gets honorable mention for sure, especially the placement of the highlights! What's the opposite of flat, full? Voluptuous? They're great, whatever the word.

Nancy this is fantastic! The trees are an absolute charm. Did you put that highlights in with a cutting motion with the loaded knife? I also love how it gets evermore shadowier towards the right. absolutely envy you for this one!

Thank you so much B! You inspired me to give it a shot! Yours is so beautiful too!

Thank you so very much Jeffth! I think you can see how much I really enjoy painting those scenes thru the painting. Your comments warm up my heart!

Awwwww Marc 🥹… thank you so much! I sure did do the knife technique for the bark of the tree. Since I learned this technique from Bob (first time was in “Secluded Forest”), it’s def my fav way of doing the highlights on the trees. Super easy and really impactful. The texture it gives is crazy! Great observation about the right side getting darker (“shadower”).

I really gotta practice that knife technique. I reaaally want to make trees like that!

Marc, being such the amazing artist that you are, you’ll pick it up right away and will love it too!

Naww, thanks a lot!

May I add something here in the discussion? Acrylics are normally softer than oils, so the knife work is a bit more tricky. You need the less pressure imaginable. It works better if the paint is already a bit dry on the palette.
This is at least my impression.

Thanks for the addition Tom! I have acrylic paints in various degrees of firmness. I'll try which degree works best!

Thanks Tom! Always learning something new! Love it! Great little nugget there!

Good job

Thank you Coldethel! 😀
