I got chatting with a couple at the bar and they asked if I could do a scene within the Wisconsin state. They are going to give this as a gift and the gentleman is a big outdoors person. So rather than leave the background plain I used Bob’s wood effect.
Another terrific painting! Well done Matt!
This is beautiful
Super painted. I love that wooded background. Must try that one day.
Very cool! That would grain background really sets it off nicely. Great choice!
Thank you Erin
Thanks so much Sandy

The wood grain looks real and the crisp edges of the state are great! The scene is perfect as expected! 🖖
Thanks Brian 🤙

Hehe thanks Nancy
I find that the cut out contact paper does leave a "too white" area surrounding the pictures once one remove it. This is a beautiful painting and a great effect with the wood finish. I am going to attempt a North Carolina cut out. We have western mountains, central flat lands, and eastern beaches. Wondering how I can fit them all in it. Giving me some good ideas Mgiese84!
Thanks much Doc
When I watched Bob use the wood technique I didn't understand how it would make sense in any context. This is very inspiring however. Thanks for giving me future ideas. Also, I love the contrast of the trees against the deep background color.
Thanks Jarrod. I used the wood technique here because I felt it help made the background less boring lol. And it fit the scene pretty well.
