By the Sea

Ninoum 13 Nov 2023

I started this one the day before my Seascape fundamental classes. I only managed to do the sky. I was able to finish the ocean part yesterday.

I was def more comfortable with the whole process. But I realize that I still need a lot more practice. So weird how things work in the classroom but at home, the struggle comes back to hunt me. Lol!

The only eye sore is the long wave running in front of the rocks. Too straight. I will fix that later on.

⚠️ UPDATED ⚠️

I couldn’t stand the “too straight” wave in front of the rock. I played with it a little. I like it much better now. Happy ‘lil Nancy! lol!!

Beautiful and love the water crashing against the rocks!

Another absolute beauty! Just love all your details...the wave, the beach, the sky and your tree! Awesome work!

Beautiful version especially the beach part with the reflection and stones.

I love it. You know what? I watch and follow Bob’s or Nic’s videos and do pretty well. Then I try to do something on my own and it seems to all fall apart. I almost want to pick and choose parts of their videos I like, use them, and then use other parts of other videos together to create a pseudo original. lol. Yah I’m wired like that.

Mega cool Wave . Super colors in the sky . Top top Level !!!👍🏼🇩🇪

Just perfection! Beautiful.

Thank you B! 😀

I really appreciate your comment as Andy! Thank you! 😊

Many thanks Jos! Those subtle reflections are so important to bring life and realism to the outcome. Glad you like them.

I am so glad to hear I am not the only one that has that issue Bob! 😄

Thank you bunches my friend! 🇩🇪☀️

Thank you very much Lc! 🤗

This painting is soo great Nancy. It is easy to see your application of knowledge and skills you gained through the week are shining through in your painting, Absolutely lovely, cheers

Wow. Great work.

This was always one of my favorite seascapes of Bob. In fact it's hanging in my bedroom lol. You did a super job!

Very nice work. The reflections on the beach are awesome!

Thank you very much Dave! Happy to hear you can see my new skills through this painting! 😃

Thank you Daddio! ☀️

Thank you much Tomi! 🥰

Coming from you Matt, it means a lot! You are so so good with seascape. It’s my fav seascape of Bob too. The colors, the scene, everything is just so perfect in this one. Bob was having a good day when he created this one!

Thank you bunches Tom! I wanted to add a little crimson & ochre in my reflection yo bring back the sky’s colors, but I totally forgot!

Looking great, Nancy! <3

I've been away for a while and when I got back here I saw this painting and the other seascapes you did at the Fundamentals classes. Awesome! Must have been great to attend it. <3

I'd love to go to the Fundamentals and move on to become an instructor.
Waiting for them to come back to Europe...

This one has been on my radar for a while now. But I still haven't painted it.
I might do it soon, when I don't feel like working on one of my longer painting projects. ("longer" as in not using Bob Ross wet-on-wet techniques for them)

Thank you my friend Titia! 😃 When I asked Nic about Europe, he told me that it will happen sooner than later. They are planning it. He did not give me any date tho. If I hear anything, I'll let you know.

This seascape is one of my fav from Bob if not my favorite. I'd love to see your version of it!

Beautiful!

@Ninoum:
Aw, thank you for asking and good to hear it is sooner than later.
I should be getting an email about it because I asked about it some months ago.
And now that I mention it... I think I forgot to reply to that email... Derp.

As for this scene... I wonder what it'll look like if I use the canvas sideways and have way less sky above the sea. So it really focusses on the wave.
I do not have a book with this painting in it, but I did find a decent image of the book version online. So many colours in the wave and sea. It is what has drawn me to this seascape.

I bet it would look great in a landscape orientation! Give it a shot!

I have the book picture & tutorial. I can email them to you. The picture in the book is more complete. The ones I find online a have been cropped slightly. So if you’d like to have the real deal, here is my email: nancy.t.zimmerman@gmail.com
