My arch nemesis is officially the fan brush. I ended up globbing paint on instead of scrubbing. I'm looking into another fan brush to see if it'll make a difference. Otherwise, my other self critique is that I could have blended the background less. I feel like I lost of a lot of nice detail that would have contributed to the painting. May end up gesso-ing this painting and starting over another time.

@lightsnow, thanks for the encouragement! My husband likes the painting and asked me to hang it up, out of sight out of mind, so I probably wont' be re-doing it haha.
Well I hope you kept this one. I thunks it’s beautiful.
It’s still here 🙂 I haven’t been able to bring myself to paint over it since my husband said he likes this one.

I think this is a nice painting. Remember, we are our own worst critics. I had difficulty with the fan brush as well, it takes a lot of practice and getting used to. My advice would be to not gesso this canvas but keep it and then perhaps try this one again at some point in the future and compare!
