I don't think it's any one thing, but I do have a sense that since I've stopped using Liquid White to prep the canvases, my Bob Ross paintings have taken on a different tone. I guess it makes sense; the foundational Liquid white solves certain problems in certain ways and without those solutions available, I address the same problems differently. Just something interesting to think about.
Beautifully smooth misty painting.
Very beautiful!
I too have stopped using liquid white.
Great misty Dracula atmosphere, I even didn't recognize the original painting, but it's your world and I make my own l.white with linseed oil and t.white and some glowing medium.
Love this Drac, looks like my perfect holiday location!
Thanks everyone for the kind words! I appreciate it!
@TheLandscapePainter - Instead of Liquid White, I am just toning the canvas with some thinned Burnt Sienna and setting straight to painting.
@rtparsjr - What are you doing instead of Liquid White in your paintings?
@joha59 - Yeah, my paintings seems to be deviating from the originals moreso than before. I guess after 300 BR paintings, I'm finally taking his advice and making them my own. Before dropping the Liquid White completely, I also made a small batch of my own. Once I ran out, I didn't make more and started my current approach.
Beautiful! I love the colors in the sky
@Drac - similar to you I’m using linseed oil thinned burnt sienna. I apply it, then wipe it off.
