A retry of this beautiful scene I did a long time ago without uploading it. I saw the wonderful version of Umagaan in landscape orientation in stead of the oval shape in portrait, so I tried that too. Struggled with the big rock, more paint came on the canvas after adding highlights and dark and highlights again. I scraped it off and reset the dark brown once again and this time I just scraped off the highlights with a cotton bud; that was better and much easier! Also added the additions of the book version: flying birds and some distant cacti. On canvasboard of 30 x 24 cm oh and I mixed the liquid white with a bit of yellow ochre to try to get some softer tints and I added some extra distant rocks to try to get even more distance in the painting.
