11x14" oil on canvas board. Followed Bob's lead and used black gesso with the sky left white. Coated the canvas with the liquid clear. I thought I had the liquid clear on thin, but it was a bit much. Less is better with the liquid clear. It makes the paint shine (good) and hard to see (bad). Everything was so wet I made a bit of dark murky mud - kinda like that effect. But shine makes it difficult to see what I'm doing! Painting was challenge. As always, Bob makes it look easy. Pushed thru, glad I did, and I think it turned out more okay than bad.
I've been painting for a while, but for sure the more I paint, the better my work gets (most days). If you put something I did last year next to what I'm doing now, I can see progress. I do online tutorials - like Bobs but also other youtubes, books, and when the weather is better paint outside with the MOPAPA (missouri plein aire) group.... Anyway, I struggle, but try to push thru it. This is how we learn
This one is super difficult! I tried it the other day and had a tough time Yours is nice though! And practice is always a good thing
I like the murky effect! It makes it look like we are entering a marshland, works well and makes it more special!
Really beautiful scene! Love it!
