Rowboat on the Beach

dracula 15 Mar 2026

I guess I'm continuing to make up for lost time on some of the oval compositions now that I'm not avoiding them anymore!

Wow, you really make me want to try an oval painting too. As always: huge fan of the way you work with light!

Great oval Drac. Is it just me or does anyone else see this painting convex? It's the position and angle of those cloud streaks, do you see it? What an achievement!

Love your take on this one. Like the way the horizon and sky fade together

This one literally feels like it's jumping out of the canvas, I think this is my personal favorite of yours (and you have some really good ones), it totally has a convex feel! I have no idea how you achieved this but man this one is amazing

Eduardo it's combination of shape and placement of the elements, and blending. I discovered it by accident when I did my huge moon painting. I bet Dracula knew it all along! 😉

Amazing work again! Reminds me of Turner a lot!

I love what you did with this subject. Definitely a Dracula painting. ✌️

Awesome perspective (I do see the convex effect!) and beautifully done.

Thank you all for the kind words; I really appreciate it! I also see the convex effect and began noticing it in my last few paintings, which have been freehand ovals without contact paper. I think because I am a little careful around the edges, they are tending a little darker, which is causing that effect. I can see it while it's happening and don't mind it, even though I wouldn't describe it as necessarily intentional.
