Sunset Oval

joha59 09 Apr 2026

Second attempt of this beautiful episode, with the oval this time, which was a lot of preparation and finishing work. Not only to cut the shapes out of adhesive plastic, but also to remove it after painting, because the plastic teared off on many places. I used a plate (thanks Rebecca and Helen for the tips) and a Stanley knife this time for the oval shape. The corners I did with the same plate and a ruler. The light in the sky I brought to the right side (thank Matt for the tip) because Bobs mountain highlights were also on the right. I did it on wallpaper of 30 x 40 cm, the oval is about 22 x 30 cm.

Gorgeous!

This turned out excellent! Like the glow in sky repeated into the water reflections. Bravo!

Super klasse Jos, Grüße 👍🏼🇩🇪🇳🇱 top work

Really nice blending from yellow to pink. Did it tear coz you snagged it using the Stanley? That blade is a bit too thick for this job, better with a surgical blade if you're doing a few of these. Number 3 handle, size 10a or 11 disposable blades, some decent art shops stock them. Perfect for this and most crafting projects, providing you don't drop it on your foot. I've never done it in 50 years, it's been stuck upright quivering in the floor a few times though.

Thank you for all the comments Jin, Sandy, Rebecca, Dirk (Grüsse zurück!) and Helen (probably the plastic was of poor quality because it teared off on many places, not only where the knife had done its work, but thanks for your proposal of a better knife and blade) !

I can imagine the headaches involved with the oval, Jos, but you aced it! Love the colorful sky, water, and foliage.

Thank you Jon, but it was lots of fun to do!
