Woodgrain View

lightsnow 11 Oct 2019

This was my 21st painting. I didn't create the woodgrain effect from that episode, but had the idea of using masking tape to create a nice border. However, I completed failed the 'bravery test' of adding the big tree that transcends the border. I just liked it a lot when I took the tape off and really did not want to ruin it. Overall, one of my quickest turnouts, clocking in at just 1 hour. 16x20 on a canvas I gesso primed twice myself. I find it helped a lot, as well as being more generous on the liquid h-white.

Spectacular...especially for only an hour's work! The mist effects are so good and the soft pink light on the mountain real ties in with the sky. Nicely done!

Thank you for your kind words! I have to admit, once I pulled off the tape, I really liked it the way it was. I didn't want to attempt painting a big tree that transcended the border and risk ruining it.
