Twilight Beauty

lightsnow 20 Mar 2020

#40 for me. This is also the 4th in my series of "self-isolation COVID-19 paint-a-thon 2020." I'm able to work from home so I made the decision to do that and just stay in and paint! I like the stark contrast that painting the outside of the oval provides. I tried a different way of making my evergreens today using a technique Dracula wrote about in an article. I used the larger fan brush to make the overall shape but then used the smaller fan brush, with no paint on it, and just flicked the edges to create pine needle shapes. I also used the smaller fan brush to add snowy highlights. Overall, this went alright and took me around 2 hours to complete. I messed up here and there but was able to salvage because, as we know, we don't make mistakes - just happy accidents. 18x24.

Wow. Nicely done.

This black oval shape is really catching attention. Evergreens look different and more detailed with Dracula method. This dark water is awesome!

I love the color in those pink clouds; very eye-catching. In addition to your detailed foreground trees, I also like the distance you achieved with your background trees. Nice work!

I can't believe this only took you two hours. Wow! It's lovely.
