Black Seascape

Voy Kay 27 Apr 2020

For the living room, I need 10 sea sceneries in total so today, I chose another one to do, which is number eight. While the motivation was present, I had to cope with several obstacles (personal issues) and thus lost my focus a bit but specially, my patience as well. This one was done in haste which should never be the case with sea sceneries. Anyway, family says the result is great so ... it will make the wall!
Canvas used was a low budget 12"x16", prepared with black gesso. Hardest part was getting the clouds right, the waves filled up and the white highlights all over. Easiest was perhaps the rock, a little too small on the right side but at least it highlighted well!
Not an easy one this creation but worth a try if you are fond of dark sceneries! Please read and comment some interesting articles and enjoy the community paintings!

Voy, this one has a lot of movement both in the sky and in the water. There are days when water is not calm neither the sky. I think due to highlight on the rocks you have these wet rocks surface shown very well. Well done!

Dear Sunnylady, it's only the second time that my rocks really rock from the start! I wanted to add more details but had time issues. What I will do this afternoon or tomorrow is bend the highlights inside the big wave a little more, they are too straight to be good!
Till next one!

The light shining through the clouds is beautifully expressed.
Well done!

Thanks Jin! That sky is indeed the best of this painting!
