I have been recovering from back surgery since March, so I wanted to see if I was ready to paint again. Ocean Sunrise was my first oil painting and it was an amazing experience for me. I wanted to see if I could recreate it without the tutorial or looking at my first painting. Turned out quite nicely (although I left out the birds this time), and it I got through it with relatively little pain. (Exciting!!) The first version will always be my favorite because it gave me confidence and sparked my love of oil painting.
Side note: I gave this painting to my physical therapist as a thank you for helping me so much, and for just being an incredible person. THANK YOU CATHY!! ❤
