I recently got a new jar of black gesso, upgrading from the Hobby Lobby store brand (Master's Touch) to Golden brand and I have to say, I don't normally care that much about brands (or gesso quality, for that matter), but wow, the Golden brand black gesso is far superior. It goes on in one even, dark coat which saves time and materials.

Beautiful! I love the sky and the light hitting the leaves. Golden is more expensive but the quality is amazing. I love their paints but I haven’t tried their gesso. I’ll have to pick some up!

@Lilikins, yes, the Golden brand is rather expensive (for acrylic paint), but in the case of their black gesso, I am pretty sure the jar will last me twice as long as the cheaper brand because I only need to use one coat.
