Countryside Oval

N Kav 01 Oct 2020

I really enjoyed this one, and I managed to fit the second area of water in as well, that was a real bonus for me!

You did very well! Very nice depth created with hils and grasslands. Your bushes are top, the frame is very original and your out-of-the-frame tree is 200% suiting!
SUPER!!

Thanks! I’m giving the oval cut outs a rest, i find that the paint bleeds underneath, so I’ve been using masking tape to form a shape instead, it seems to work quite well.

My idea as well. Contact paper never gives the same result as masking tape (recent ones). I always need to use paper glue with my contact paper and still it bleeds.
You can vary with frames all that you want, I've written an article about that.

Good luck on future endeavourments!!

This is very nice! The tape design gives it a very expansive look. I also like the colorful details in the grasses and trees.

I recently discovered an alternative to contact paper. Duck Brand 1063853 Peel N' Stick Laminate Adhesive Shelf Liner, 20-Inch x 15-Feet, White is available at Amazon.

I’ve found it in 20” x 30’ roles at Lowe’s.
The difference is the shelf liner is thicker and very easy to work with. I’ve used it recently on three paintings with zero bleeding under. Hope it is available in your area.

Thanks for the tip ForestVue! I’ll have a look in to that, I usually paint on oil paper, so self adhesives can be a little too adhesive, but I love experimenting, so I’ll definitely give it a go. Happy painting!
