My second attempt at this painting, and first colorized version. It's not my favorite version by any means but the colors turned out pretty good. I much prefer the black and white version.

Nice job! I also have attempted this a few times and I agree with you, I much prefer the B&W versions. Having said that, the colors do look very nice on this composition. Question - when you use white gesso, do you find you have to apply multiple coats for it to show up? Anytime I apply it over black, I find the need to go over it several times. Wondering if you experienced the same thing??
