I realized too late that I was supposed to leave a white area on the horizon surrounded by black gesso. I just did the whole oval black. Not sure if it made much difference. There wasn't a lot to latch on to in this composition for me, but, on the other hand, I think this is my new speed record; probably around 90 minutes, instead of 3–4 hours.

You can not tell you forgot to leave a white spot. The backlight is nice.
