Graceful Waterfall

HLarson3 23 Oct 2021

Now THIS was a real “bravery test” right from the get go. But boy, was it worth staying up late to finish. Oils on 18x24 canvas.

Worked quite some time to be pleased with my rocks, but I’m happy with them. The waterfall and misty areas were really fun, as was the wild downstream area, to the point that I got a little carried away and added a rock or two to calm things down a bit.

Lots of script liner work here which has always been a challenge for me, but it got better as I went along tonight.

The log was a challenge but I loved the idea of it. So glad I chose to get out of my comfort zone and try this one!

Love the waterfall
Looks like costa rica

Your rocks and water are very nice. Especially downstream.

Thank you both! It is a good Costa Rica scene, hadn’t thought of that!

I hated art class too growing up! I come from a stick figure background. Five kids as well. Looks good! Good work with the liner brush as well.

Thank you! Sometimes I think the liner is fun, and other times, it gives me fits.

Oh, art…years of challenge and confusion for me. I told a friend the other day that I created the genre of “narrative drawing,” aka “draw it fast, then label what it actually is so no one is confused.”

Glad to hear of your happy little brood of children. My last two have been painted without them which makes for a whole different experience, but it is a joy to see them take on the challenge of painting with Bob.

Look at us. Two people who hated art and now are painting and enjoying it. Bob is a true hero. I enjoy seeing your original creations, especially the seascape scenes. Keep it up!

I think This turned out very nice! I like the colors a lot.

Thank you. Yes Bob is a real hero. I wonder how many there are like us who hated art and now paint because of him. I think what I like most about him is his genuine approach and outlook. Many have said who have known him that as he was in tv he was in real life. Sure he had weaknesses and failings. But who has not? I even have a deeper appreciation for animals because of him. Gone too soon. But his memory lives on. Keep painting :)
