Arapaima Spot - Canvas - DN

Dirk1968 20 Mar 2024

After my idea to paint a super fishing spot and the whole thing as an attempt on copy paper, I thought today is some time to finish the project on canvas and complete it with it. As a substrate, I chose and imitated mahogany wood and built the spot on it. I think the tropical wood with its variations of dark red tones, fits well with this scene.Added a few trunks on the left to make the whole thing a little more interesting. As always totally fresh from 25 minutes ago and I hope you like it.

The third picture below is the update from a few days ago. More drying time and I have changed little things.

Canvas, 24 x 30 cm (9.45 x 11.80 Inch) 2x gesso mix with acrylic, grinded, real wood effect, time 4 Hours

Great job with your background for sure Dirk. Can you imagine hooking and landing one of those beasts?! πŸ” πŸ‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Hey brother, thank you very much. To drill the monster, you have to be in good shape. I trust myself from the fitness, but you need a second man to help you pull the monster, the rest of the way to the shore. So brother, you're in the boat πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ˜Ž

Really beautiful work Dirk! Such a beautiful scene!

Hey my Portrait Queen, thank you so much. It's such a thing between an idea that was anchored in the head and trying a lot of creative things . πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

I really like the trees and the wood is amazing.

Hey Cold, thank you for your support. I made the wood as described in my article. The tree trunks with the flat brush and with the knife . .πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Great painting Dirk. I'm pleased you marked the spot so that you can get back to it again and catch more monsters. Love the mahogany effect. Well painted, cheers

Greetiings to Bargara. I love this kind of Fish. . He is so original. Very large, very heavy and in my eyes very graceful. Thank you for your support,Dave .I really appreciate your opinion πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

I love the whole thing my friend! πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ🀩 The mahogany wood imitation is so well done! It looks real and the contrast of color it provides is top. The additional branches really make your compo perfect. The "beast" is such a great element of interest! Beautiful work!

Hey my friend , greetings from Germany πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ. Thank you so much for your super comment . Your words honor me very much, because you are a great artist, I appreciate it very muchπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Looks like you painted on an actual piece of wood. Very realistic! Love the idea. Don't know if I'd want to bring that beast in, but would be interesting. Great painting.

Good evening from Germany, R_a_P, Thank you for your Great comment . I have some real wood effects in the list and in the article, with instructions if you want to try it. Landing an Arapaima takes approx. 15 - 45 minutes, .He is up to 2.50 m long nowadays. There used to be specimens that were up to 4 m tall πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

Well done. You like those scenes right?

Hey Tom, that's really my thing, fly fishing, big fish, rainforest, etc. But the real thing is to implement your own ideas with what you have learned (so far). It's just fun to see what comes out of. This is all not perfect but it is my original and gives a certain degree of confirmation that you can also implement what you have learned ,practice practice and practice! . I haven't been there for so long. Thank you very much, neighbor πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ή

Love that mahogany wood background. Really nice compo Dirk.

Hey Tony , thank you so much . Greetings from germany πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ
